A grocery shop
Spanish
honest.
Spain
that you eat.
Orígenes was born from an obvious truth: Spanish cuisine sold in Swiss supermarkets bears almost no resemblance to what people cook in Valencia, Santiago de Compostela or Seville. Industrial brands, standardized products, opaque labels. For the traveler who returns with a bottle of oil and a tin of preserves in their suitcase, the contrast is harsh.
We founded Orígenes to fill this gap. Eight artisanal houses, chosen village by village in the regions we know: La Chinata in Sierra de Gata for cold-pressed Manzanilla olive oil bottled within 6 hours, Carmencita in Novelda since 1920 for saffron and smoked pimentón, Real Conservera Española in Carril, Galicia, for hand-packed conserves (five generations, founded in 1920), Plaza del Sol in Castile for Marcona almonds and J. Sendra rice from the Albufera, VillaOlivo in Andalusia for robust Picual oil, Maestros Aceituneros for whole olives, Pago de Espejo and Castillo de Jijona for vinegars and turrón confections.
No private label. No middleman cutting corners on quality. The name of the house, the region, the harvest year when we have it. You know exactly what you're buying, and who made it.
« If we wouldn't eat a product at home, it doesn't make it into the catalogue. It's the only rule that's never changed. »
Four rules.
No more.
We founded Orígenes on four principles — not one more, not one fewer. What follows is what we commit to doing for you, with every order.
Tasted before being listed
No product enters the catalogue without us having tested it in the kitchen. Not just opened — cooked, tasted, compared against two or three alternatives.
The name of the house, always
For each reference: the producer, the region, sometimes the harvest year. The exact opposite of faceless distributor brands.

Hector Cabrera Feijoo
Sueca, Valencia. I saw my first paella cooking at age six in my Spanish grandparents' garden. Bomba rice, rabbit, stock reduced for two hours, a 60 cm paellera over orange wood fire. Valencian father from Sueca — in the heart of the Albufera rice fields — Galician mother from Santiago. Two regions, two opposing traditions: one around rice and saffron, the other around fish and conserves. A childhood spent tasting both.
Montreux, 2014. I set up my paelleras in French-speaking Switzerland under the name La Bonne Paella. Weddings, anniversaries, corporate events. Live cooking in front of guests, sometimes 80 covers. Over time, one habit became recurring: people constantly asked me where to find Bomba rice, smoked pimentón from La Vera, Manzanilla olive oil that serves as the base for paella.
« After spending all that time explaining to customers where to find the right rice, I preferred to gather everything in a single shop. »
Clarens, 2024. Orígenes was born as a natural extension of La Bonne Paella. 96 references, 8 Spanish artisanal houses, delivered throughout Switzerland from our depot on Lake Geneva's shores. No distributor brand, no middleman. You buy what I serve myself when I cook for my clients — and what I eat at home.
